Located just 60km northwest of Hangzhou or 200km west of Shanghai, Mount Mogan, or more commonly known by its Chinese name "Moganshan" (莫干山), is located in Deqing County, Zhejiang Province and part of the larger Tianmu mountain range. Due to its close proximity to both Shanghai and Hangzhou, the Moganshan region has long been a popular summer escape for city dwellers, due to it's pristine bamboo forest and slightly cooler temperatures.
Consisting of four separate tree-top challenge courses, a high-ropes circuit, climbing wall, team building zone, archery range, camp ground, BBQ area, as well as having toilet & shower facilities the Insight Adventures' very own "Official Base Camp" is the perfect location for a wide variety of school and corporate outdoor programmes.
Set amongst the natural bamboo forest in the hills surrounding Xiwuli village, the challenge courses employ a non-invasive system of platforms and cables that clamp to trees rather than bolt through them, preventing damage to the plant. With a Continuous Belay System (CBS), a participant's safety harness is connected to a continuous cable system via a lanyard, preventing the participant from becoming disconnected while on the ropes course. As they move from element to element, the connector moves over a series of links that are attached to the support structure, all the way through to the exit point where an trained instructor releases the participant from the CBS.
With the 2016 Autumn season well underway, the new base camp has already welcomed schools, both international and local, from Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Ningbo, several corporate groups and a mini-camp programme held over the October break.
